Sunflower honey (‘miel de tournesol’) is the commonest type of honey in France. Gown in the rich agricultural land around Lismoges, sunflowers yield abundant quantities of concentrated nectar. The honey produced from sunflower nectar is textured and vividly bright yellow honey. Sunflower honey always has a creamy, fine texture, which is easy to spread and a lively, pleasant citrus aftertaste. It is widely used in the preparation of mixed flower honey.

The bees gather and store nectar and honeydew in the combs of the hive. This stored material combines with certain other pure materials and becomes honey.
