Derived from the west coast of Italy this honey reputedly has more flavour than anywhere else in Europe. In high summer Mauro takes his hives down to the pungent eucalyptus groves that span the coastal planes to the north of Tarquinia. Soft-set, creamy and thick, it is delicious spread on fresh country bread and for sweetening hot drinks.
This finely crystallized aromatic honey retains the properties of the eucalyptus, which is said to have a beneficial effect on the respiratory system.
